It arived in 2 days and the picture looks 100% better now. Super easy to install yourself took my husband about 5 minutes to figure out.
The TV is definitely brighter than it had been for the past month before the old bulb went out. The first bulb lasted 5.5 years, and I am hoping for equal performance from the new bulb. The product arrived quickly and was a genuine Sony. I did notice that the package said this was the Sony XL2100 and not the older XL2100U as the product title states. The installation was super easy, and the TV is back up and running.
ALSO-after install, MAKE SURE you put lamp cover back on-not front panel-LAMP COVER, then check to see if operational.should work. Very easy to install if done correctly. Reviews were definitely helpful.after identifying correct lamp, ordered module thru Vanns for ease of install. Reason i know this is because i did not put lamp cover on and TV indicated a series of blink sequences, green, yellow, then red.then 3 red blinks repeatedly then unit would turn itself off.Thank goodness the sony tech support had a knowledgeable person. Oh, by the way, the bulb i just replaced lasted almost 5.5 yrs and i watch ALOT of movies, i hope to duplicate that w/ the new one. Very important-I have a 60in. Gran Wega, (i think model is kf60ew610)-The panel to remove is in the FRONT-bottom portion of the TV, where the power indicator light panel is-easily comes off with the big screws in the back panel, and access to module is right there.unscrew lamp w/ supplied allen wrench, remove old lamp, insert new lamp into position, screw in bolts tightly*** DO NOT TAKE BACK PANEL OFF***, its not there, as i found out.
This is almost as easy as replacing the light bulb in a desk lamp. It took me longer to find my screwdriver than it took me to do the entire swap. I know what you're thinking. If you still have the manual for your TV the instructions in the manual are actually well-written and illustrated. (Under 5 minutes). You're thinking, "Do I really want to risk screwing up a TV I paid $3,000 for by trying to replace this thing myself. Can I really save that much on a service call." Well, rest easy.
If you are thinking of having this lamp professionally installed, don't bother. When inserting the new lamp, make sure that it is securely in place, tighten the screws with an allen wrench, pop the front panel on, tighten the screws on the back. The replacement lamp condition and packaging were good.
A word to the wise; when you remove the damaged lamp, take advantage and use a compressed-air duster aerosol can to blow out all the dust that is in the lamp compartment. Now, grab a delicious drink, sit in a comfortable chair, press the power button on the remote, and Enjoy. Also, spray some air into the rear fan to clear out the dust that has accumulated in the back of the TV unit.
I suggest you buy from Vanns. You will save yourself at least $60.00 if you do it yourself. ;-)
The lamp was secure and the warranty and other documentation were inside. Installation should take no longer than 30 minutes if you work diligently.
